Welcome, Me.
Okay, Okay, Okay…, I know! Everyone’s blogging right? Well, me too. You can’t blame me too much. With the wave of social media that has swept over us, we’ve all become writers. Whether its the frequent ranting on twitter or your hilarious BBM(BlackBerry Messenger) broadcasts, we’ve all become writers, and yes, me too. Plus, it would be a great idea to just blog away while waiting for the bus to Yaba to get filled up na! Matter of fact, this isn’t the first time I’m trying my hands (and wits) at blogging. I’ve just forgotten all the passwords to the rest of the blogs, and usernames too! Who does that? tongue out Like you don’t! Tell me you don’t have at least one site you’ve subscribed to and forgotten the password. Abegi. This time, I’m keeping this one. This is a blog of my gradual ascension to the corridors of money, and satisfaction, whichever comes first. You see, we didn’t have it all rosy. Well, I didn’t have it thorny either sha, but, I wish I had it better, most of us do. So, this is a detailed blog of ‘how I made it’. Ha! Of course, I’m going to make it! If its paining you, get a blog, sorry, job!
I’d give you a little history of my life. You see, I’m 18. Wait!!! Before you start to shake your head and say ‘God, this small boy’…lemme add to your reasons for shaking head. I wish I was younger. For Christ’s sake, look at yourself. If you do anything productive at the time, rewind to three years back. Do you think your brain capacity wouldn’t have been able to do these things then? Of course, it probably would have. (Well except you did ‘cursemetic’ surgery sha, cos I heard that sh*t makes people smarter). If you actually did rewind to three years before today, if you started what you’re presently doing then, how far do you think you’d have gone by now. Well, that’s my own two kobo sha. So, all the girls that add to their age just to feel big, don’t do it with me o. In my mind I’d just be singing my legendary ‘You no dey shame..dey form the dame…upstairs them lame…the same the same’ rhyme!
I think the problem with most of us young people (if you’re old and reading this blog, please let it be cos you want to offer me a job, else, you’re too old to be reading this)..where was I? Ah! The problem with us young people is that we don’t realize the need to establish ourselves until it gets too late. bring your ears closer Let me whisper a secret to you…If you want to make it early, just go into music, or the movies, that is, if you don’t have some family heirloom already. Sometimes, only sometimes, I wish conversations between my dad and myself were: Ope’s dad: Ope! Ope: Sir. Ope’s dad: Errm, as you can see, I’m about to go and meet my fore-fathers.. Ope: Yes, yes, go on Ope’s dad: coughs Ermrm coughs again I want you to take over my companies in Aja, Lekki, and V.I. Ope: The one in Abeokuta nko? Ope’s dad: Hhen, leave that one for your baby sister!
Sadly, nothing of the sort. On the other hand, that is one of the things that drive me to do what I do. (Sneak peek: I’m a graphic designer, and we’re plenty, almost the same number with fake pastors in Nigeria sef!) Anyway, like I said earlier, I realized that, to make it early, it was either heirloom or music or movies. As for music, I have friends like Dammy Krane and Baron G doing their thing, and even though I’m quite very poetic and I have a very awesome voice yimu, I just cannot do music. That is so not my calling, at least for now. As per movies, well, my father is not Will Smith, and I don’t know if I can deal with the popularity of the average movie person, so that was crossed off my list too. As per heirloom, if you gather my share, I’d only do prodigal son at The Galleria for seven hours, thirty three minutes before I branch Abbatoir to go and eat with the pigs there. Anyway, I needed something, and I realised it was fun making designs, so indirectly, I started graphic designing (Another post for another time). sigh so much to tell.
Well, most of the story is for subsequent posts. This post is to thank you for clicking that link, and hope you would read my subsequent blog posts. Off to work! wink
