Titled

It’s been a while. Oh yes, I know. Do I have to give you all the excuses of no time and tests and exams and hang-outs and Oh, I just told you everything. So much has happened. There’s so much to tell, so much to make stories and joke about. But let’s start from somewhere right? School has been hard. C’mon, dirty mind! Not hard like hard; hard like stressful and difficult. Even if I attend only a quarter of the classes, and spend time hanging out with girls that eventually just want to be ‘friends’ (you know the drill), you have to believe that school has been stressful. So, in between the crazy schedule, I bring you this post, titled. Yes, what? The title of the post is ‘titled’. That sentence was complete, and correct. This is the post titled ‘Titled’.

This town where I have unfortunately have been compelled to school in doesn’t have a cinema, except of course, the makeshift one in my room when I switch off the lights, but we try, as much as is twitterly and bbmly possible, to keep up with the movie industry. Of course, you know I’m not talking about Nollywood, not now at least. So, I know Hangover 2 is out, and Thor is awesome, and well, we saw Ghetto Dreams in a ghetto make-shift cinema. Yeah, there’re pretty much many other cool new movies, blah blah blah. Now, let me emphasize on ‘Ghetto Dreams’, the Dagrin story, pretty much because that was the only one I’ve been fortunate to actually watch and not just hear the story or read the review.

Basically, it’s a weakly told story about the late rapper’s life, and they did quite a skimpy job of portraying his hard times, and struggles from school to the music scene. I pretty much sat through all the two hours of that movie because, well, it’s Dagrin’s story na (and I was with a girl). The point of me mentioning that movie is that it occurred to me that, if I died, and there was a movie to be made about me (put you in the situation), will it be worth wasting two hours of anyone’s time for? Hmmmph. deep sigh. What genre will your biography so far be? Comedy, tragedy, action, or teen drama? Oh, or are you the one with the porn biography? What will your story be titled? Tangled? BlackBerry babe? Or The Social Not-Work?

I remember the point in the movie (do I really have to remind you again that I’m talking about Ghetto Dreams?) when the Dagrin guy was being scolded for being a dumb, very dumb, student. As much as he acted all indifferent and barged away in annoyance, he went to a corner, and kept thinking of what else he could do with his life. Yeah, I know he was drinking while he was doing that, but yeah, you can think while drinking. Just think!!! I don’t know if it’s necessary to make posters and billboards, but we really need to make some people realize that thinking doesn’t hurt. Considering our immediate problems and the problems in the world, I find it highly disturbing that some people only think when it comes to girls, and oh, also when the red light on their BlackBerry phones becomes orange! We need to realize that our lives should be worth something, and apply to practical use the info we get from our every day conversations and observations.

(He) She who has an ear, let her use it if she likes. Will you decide to live a story with a really cool title?
