#55: April 2023
April was tres interesting. We published the Hanky Panky documentary, started using Instagram, kicked off Feel Good, and did some work on Album Cover Bank, Spectrum and Roses Roses.
I also talked to more people about the studio and got a lot of good advice. Thanks to Emmanuel, I discovered mschf.com and it has sparked a lot of ideas for me. Most immediately, like MSCHF and other creative brands we’ll be presenting completed projects as numbered“drops”.
how to make an animated short in lagos
Shot in November and published in April, the documentary for Hanky Panky is finally up! Bankole did great with the videography and absolutely saved the colours (I almost made it black and white). Kayode was excellent with the cut. Daniel was articulate and brilliant. Joshua was delightfully animated. Osarumen and Ifebusola looked very cool. And my cameo was chef’s kiss. I wish we got everyone else — Oshuwa, Chuks, Kolade — but I’m glad with the outcome.
What’s next
#4: E Dey Happen Pilot
We’ll kick off next month with a premiere of Eris and Ivie’s film. E Dey Happen is an animated series about work, and May 1 is perfect for announcing the pilot.
Production
Other stuff we’ll probably be working on in May:
- Album Cover Bank: wrap up and publish website
- Spectrum: complete editorial and figure out production cost
- Aba Made: publish research on industrial design
- Friends of 16: design app for booking
Website 3
I’ve been prototyping a new website that better captures what the studio has published. I plan to write the code when I can make the time, but I really could do with some help. I don’t usually ask because it’s harder to hold people accountable when they’re not being paid. But if you have time and space to help build this, please email me.
