Negotiations
Dami asked how my identity has changed since Paystack, and I answered not much. It largely just feels like I’ve finished a big project.
My sense of self is rooted in my connection to family and friends, the respect of my peers, quality of my work and physical well-being. And all have improved since I quit.
But of course, I feel a great loss. I feel the gravity of the end of my contract. An untethering from Shola, Ezra, and the community I helped build.
It also feels like the last time anything will be the same. Who I am may not have fundamentally changed, but what I care about, what I do, where I live, etc. are all in flux.
I feel like I’m negotiating for a new life.
