For any day I’m not able to actually write a post, I’m just going to publish something from my journal. Oops.
It took a few weeks of boxing to learn what I struggled with at the gym: how to stick through pain. Not just to accept pain, but to be with it. To welcome it. Where does it hurt? How does it feel? Hmm, I’m struggling…
The truth is, pushing myself in any way is not supposed to be comfortable. The very idea of a challenge is to get myself to a place where I couldn’t reach before. And my body and mind doth protest.
They protest because of the newness. They protest because there’s no memory of the pain. But once I have a memory of the pain, it gets easier.
Always, I’m the person to beat.
